Public Notice of Closure – Gifts for Manus and Nauru (GFMAN)

It is with deep gratitude and heavy hearts that we announce the closure of Gifts for Manus and Nauru (GFMAN).

For more than a decade, GFMAN has been run entirely by volunteers committed to supporting individuals impacted by Australia’s offshore detention policies. After ten years of continuous operation, our committee members have, for a range of personal reasons — including health, age, and changing life circumstances — made the difficult decision to wind up the organisation.

We are immensely proud of what GFMAN has achieved in partnership with our supporters. While this chapter is closing, we remain steadfast in our belief that advocacy and practical support for people seeking asylum must continue.

We thank everyone who has donated, volunteered, and stood in solidarity with us. We encourage you to continue supporting refugee rights and to seek out other organisations working to uphold the dignity and wellbeing of those impacted by detention.

The winding up of GFMAN is being undertaken in accordance with our constitution and all relevant legal obligations. Any remaining assets will be distributed in compliance with Australian charity law and our governing documents.

With sincere thanks,
The Committee of Gifts for Manus and Nauru
